The Western State Colorado University Mountain Sports Nordic Ski Team played host to the USCSA Rocky Mountain Conference this past weekend on the trails (and streets!) of Crested Butte, CO. Racers from the University of Wyoming, Air Force, Colorado College, and Colorado Mesa University toed the line, as did many racers from CU, DU, and the University of New Mexico. All told, there were over 90 collegiate racers in town for these races.

Crested Butte Nordic did a tremendous job with the 30th Annual Alley Loop Ski Marathon (presented by Western) on Saturday, February 6th. Western skiers placed well, with 3 Western Men in the top 10 in the 21km skate race, including Cameron Moore leading the way in 5th, and Kevin Geisen and Gordon Gianniny placing high as well. Bob Maddox placed 8th for the women in the 21km skate.

Sunday saw the team place high in the 5km classic event as well, with Cameron Moore once again placing 5th and Kevin Geisen in 10th. Bob Maddox skied to her all-time best result of 2nd place in the 5km classic. Very impressive for her and for the team! Western will be gearing up for races in Laramie, WY (hosted by the University of Wyoming) on February 13th and 14th. #GoWestern
