This past weekend, five WSCU Mountain Sports park riders competed in Crested Butte Mountain Resort’s first Slopestyle event of the season. Competitors were Alex Wakenight (board), Grady Shoop (board), Andrew Arnold (board), Marshall Kratzer (board), and Dave Sugnet (ski). Shoop won and Arnold took 3rd in the 18-21 year old age group. Kratzer won the open men’s class  and Sugnet was first in open class men’s skiing over a Durango skier and a University of New Mexico student from Taos, NM. WSCU athletes had a lot of fun despite the subzero temps and flat light all day. Kratzer was throwing his signature front flip or “ninja flip” off of rails, and the whole crew were throwing spins and flips with smooth grabs and style. A great success for Park & Pipe Team’s first competition of the season!
