The Western State Colorado University Mountain Sports Trail Running Team traveled to Fountain Hills, AZ this past weekend to compete in the prestigious Javelina Jundred 100 mile running race. Western sent 4 athletes to compete, and an additional 4 athletes to serve as crew members and pacers. The Javelina Jundred is the second largest 100 mile event in North America, and also one of the fastest. Western senior Josh Simkins placed 8th overall with a time of 17h 47m. A very impressive showing for the 100 mile rookie. Sophomore Kevin Geisen ran a stellar 23h 30m race to shave nearly 7 hours from his 100 mile PR. Freshman Kelsey Swanson finished well in her 100km race debut.
Next up for the Mountain Sports Trail Running Team is the prestigious (National Championship) Moab Trail Marathon (and Half Marathon) on November 7th in Moab, UT. #GoWestern
