The Western State Colorado University Nordic Team raced in the annual Alley Loop up in Crested Butte this past weekend. The Alley loop race happens each winter in Crested Butte, and is a race for anyone to go out and have fun Nordic skiing.
Western hosted a collegiate race this weekend in conjunction with the Alley Loop, and the team raced in the 21k skate ski on Saturday, which included starting and finishing the race in downtown Crested Butte. Western Mountain Sports Nordic competed against other schools such as Mesa, Air Force, and Wyoming.
On Sunday, the teams skied in a 5k classic ski. This was a competition where racers pushed themselves to get the quickest times. The skiers started on 15 second intervals, and traversed through the Crested Butte woods.
The weather was sunny and warm all weekend, and the team had a blast competing. Every skier on the team did an incredible job!
Next stop for the Nordic crew is Laramie, Wyoming next weekend! Check back in to see the recap.
