This past weekend Tucker Cocchiarella and Sam Lesnikoski traveled to Grand Targhee WY to compete in a Telemark Big Mountain Competition.  The two free-heelers traveled with the Colorado Rocky Mountain School team from Carbondale, CO and several of Crested Butte’s local rippers.

They were met with ample snow and low visibility. During the first day of the competition everyone was able to get in one run, even with the regular weather delays. Tucker and Sam both stomped their qualifying runs.   Tucker ended up in 17th and Sam in 19th.

The second day of the comp was canceled due to zero visibility. Though they were both disappointed to not be able to ski the second day venue, it was very enjoyable to be able to free ski with many other fellow tele markers.  Conditions were excellent at “the Ghee” with above average snowfall on the season.

The two telemarkers would like to thank Western Mountain Sports and the Colorado Rocky Mountain School Telemark Team  as well as Grand Tarhgee Resort and their ski patrol.
