Western State Colorado University’s home Rocky Mountain Collegiate Cycling Conference race was this past weekend at Crested Butte Mountain Resort. The Mountaineers crushed it on their home turf.
Saturday morning, the cross country riders started just above the Red Lady Lift. The course was seven miles long, with 1,000 feet of vertical gain. The Men’s A riders (Peter Noon, Sean O’Donnell, Cameron Smith, Ryan Trimble and Grant Gipson) rode three laps!
CBMR is one of the only RMCCC races with a dual slalom event. Saturday afternoon, both downhill and some cross country riders raced each other in this fun and exciting event.
Early Sunday morning, the cross country riders took part in a short track race at the base of CBMR. The athletes rode as many laps as the could in an allotted time period.
Downhill riders looked forward to racing Avery and Boulder Mason Sunday afternoon. All of the athletes had great results this past weekend, and should be posted soon.
